Taking a Moment Before Welcoming 2025

Updated: Jan 2

My instinct is to set goals, write lists, and plan for “what’s next.” However, when I completed a Yoga Teacher qualification years ago, I gained a deeper appreciation for focusing on the present. This doesn’t come naturally to me, so I’ve learned to practice it intentionally. Even more challenging for me is spending time reflecting on and embracing personal wins.

In December, while coaching several clients , I realized I’m not alone in this. I noticed a common theme, particularly among high achievers who are always striving for continuous improvement and energetically pursuing “what’s next.” specifically when approaching a new year. While this drive for growth is invaluable and fulfilling in life, business, and careers, I’ve found that shifting the spotlight—even briefly—to reflect on what we feel good about can be just as powerful

Taking a moment to acknowledge what we’ve done well can not only boost purposeful energy for the year ahead but also reveal blind spots that help us lean further into our strengths.

So, before we dive into 2025, here are some questions to spark reflection:

  • What did you feel good about in 2024? Consider areas like professional development, work wins, self-awareness, career relationships, or new experiences.

  • When did you feel at your best in 2024? Why was this?

  • What did you most enjoy doing?

  • What did you do that scared you?

  • What positive feedback did you receive?

And remember—for this exercise, keep the focus firmly on the positive. Resist the urge to fuel your inner critic!

For me, I feel grateful for 2024 because:

  1. I was privileged to coach and support so many incredible individuals across various professions, industries, and companies.

  2. I’m thankful for the fellow coaches. Their insights, support, and generosity have been invaluable.

  3. I’m thrilled to have worked closely with some exciting fintech start ups and contributed to their purpose-driven missions.

  4. I’ve reconnected with many ex-colleagues, realizing just how much I value and cherish those relationships

  5. I cherish the bright colour and richness my four young children bring to my life and my perspective.

Thank you 2024 😊
